CAREERS EDUCATION AND GUIDANCE
Careers Education and Guidance is an essential
part of the curriculum in Years 9, 10 and 11. A great deal of time
is devoted to ensuring that the pupils are enabled to develop the
skills and attributes they will need to make decisions about future
educational and vocational opportunities. The development of good,
transferable work skills is very important.
The Connexions Service becomes involved with
the pupils in groups and individually from Year 9 onwards. The Connexions
adviser attends parents' evening as well as meeting parents formally
in years 10 and 11.
At each annual review from Year 9 onwards there
is a focus on the development and refining of the transition plan.
This ensures that good arrangements are put in place for each pupil's
transition at 16+ and that their learning support and care needs
are met in the future at college, school or work.
Pupils leaving The Forest School have gone on
to the local colleges with support, schools, residential school
or colleges, directly to work or on to training schemes or supported
employment.
