INCLUSION PLACEMENTS

The special educational needs of some pupils may be met through part time experience in a mainstream environment. This means that pupils may attend a mainstream school for part of the time to access some of the curriculum and some social experience. These placements may be in the pupil's local home community or at one of the schools in Knaresborough with whom we work closely.

Inclusion plans are drawn up and these detail the purpose of the shared placement. These arrangements may be to extend the pupils' educational experience, to give them access to specific exam courses or to allow them social experiences or to prepare them for eventual transfer to full time mainstream education.
