
Welcome to The Forest School newsletter. We hope you all had a
very enjoyable Christmas break and are full of enthusiasm for the
new term!
We would like to welcome Joshua Lodge to Class 2 and Pawel Skalamowski
to Year 9 both of whom joined us for the new term.
CHRISTMAS FAIR
Thank you for all your support at the Christmas Fair. It was a
very enjoyable start to our Christmas celebrations. The Fair raised
£570 for school funds.
CLASS PHOTOGRAPHS
The photographer is in school on Friday 25th January to take the
Class group photographs.
CONTACT DETAILS 
Please keep the office up to date with any change in telephone
numbers – especially if Santa brought you a new mobile phone
– please let us have your new number.
SCHOOL LUNCH
A copy of the new menu is enclosed for your information. The cost
of a school lunch for this half term is £45.00. Please make
cheques payable to The Forest School.
PARENT GOVERNOR
I am very pleased to advise you that after the Parent Governor Election
held in November, Mrs Jane Turner has been appointed as Parent Governor.
Mrs Turner has a son in the Early Years Class. JOSEPH AND HIS TECHNICOLOUR
DREAM COAT
You have seen it on the BBC – now come and see this fabulous
production at The Forest School! The secondary department pupils
are performing this on Thursday 28th February at 2.30. Please put
the date in your diary – tickets will be available nearer
the time. |
PARENTS CONSULTATION EVENING
As this is a very short term, there won’t be a parents consultation
meeting. A meeting will be held in the summer term. If you want
to discuss any matter concerning your child’s progress at
school please telephone their teacher or member of the senior management
team.
POST OFFICE CLOSURE
We have been notified that our local Post Office at Stockwell Branch,
2 Chain Lane, Knaresborough is to be closed in the next round of
proposed measures. This facility would be very much missed by the
local community and school, and if you are able to register your
objection to this, please do so by e mailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk
before 17th January.
PARENTS SUPPORT GROUP
A very big thank you from the parents support group for all the
toys you donated for the stall at the Christmas Fair. A calendar
of events
will be circulated shortly so you can keep in touch with the activities
to be arranged by the Parents Support Group.
Also if you have any unwanted Christmas Gifts that would be suitable
for raffle prizes, please send them in to school for the attention
of the Parents Support Group. Thank you.
RDA 
Horse riding restarts for secondary pupils on 25th January, and
22nd January for primary pupils.
SENSORY GARDEN 
The School is developing a small sensory garden. We have the support
of Knaresborough Rotary Club in this project. The pupils have been
invited to take part in a competition to design the garden. Work
is due to start this term.
RESIDENTIAL VISITS
For all students going on residential visits this year please check
the schedule of incremental payments due sent previously by letter.

QUIZ EVENING
As promised we are to rearrange the Quiz Evening on 14th March
at 7.30pm. Details, and tickets will follow shortly. Please put
the date in your diary as this is a very enjoyable evening.
HENSHAWS HOLIDAY CLUB
Details are enclosed from Henshaws regarding a holiday club they
are arranging for February.
It was great to see so many parents at the primary department Christmas
Nativity Play. Once again we all enjoyed the concert thanks to the
hard work of the staff. Your generous contributions to the collection
raised £218.40 for the Wheelchair Foundation.
