Well, another school year is almost over! Let’s hope we have some good weather over the summer holidays, so that the children return to school in September refreshed and happy.

FAMILY FUN DAY

Carlton Lodge Outdoor Centre will be holding a family fun day on 31 July at Carlton Miniott near Thirsk. Various activities are on offer including archery, canoeing, kayaking, climbing wall, zip wire bouncy castle etc. The event starts at 10am and costs £20 per family of 2 adults and 2 children, £25 per family of 2 adults and 3 children. There will be a snack bar on site, but feel free to take a packed lunch. You will also need a towel and a change of clothes.

YOUTHABILITY CLUB

The youthability club runs every Tuesday during term time, from 6pm to 7.30pm, at Chain Lane Community Centre on Chain Lane in Knaresborough. Children from 11 to 19 years are welcome to attend, please contact Pat

AARDVARK ANIMATION

Little Ribston Village Hall is hosting two 1-day summer workshops on July 26th and August 3rd, from 10am till 3pm. The workshops cover all the skills needed to create your very own Wallace and Gromit, Ooglies or Lego animation. Open to children between 9 and 13 years, and the cost is £25 per day. Children should bring along a packed lunch and lots of ideas

NUZZLETS

Nuzzlets is a local animal sanctuary that some of our younger children visit during school time. They welcome visits by families during school holidays by prior arrangement. BECKWITHSHAW SAINTS JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB

The club is looking for new girls and boys to play football. They practice on the Stray in Harrogate every Saturday morning between 9am and 11am. For more information contact Kathryn.macgregor@hotmail.co.uk or look at their Facebook page Beckwithshaw Saints Junior Football Club.

SCHOOL LUNCHES

A decision is to be made on 23rd July regarding the cost of school lunches from September. We will endeavour to text parents on 1st September with any further information we receive from North Yorkshire County Caterers.


SPORTSABILITY EVENT

Ripon Leisure Centre is hosting a range of activities including kurling, boccia, cycling, football and badminton. The event is between 10am and 2pm on 31st July. Open to disabled people aged 14 upwards, activities are free though there will be a small charge for refreshments.

SNIP’N’HIP @ WINKIES

Winkies playcentre in Starbeck has its own hairdressing salon within the building. The resident stylist, Julie Sangster, has over 10 years salon experience, and experience of working with children with special needs. Julie understands how daunting a trip to the hairdressers can be for some children. If you would like more information please call Julie at Winkies on 01423 886886.

Winkies is also holding various special days and events including Sunshine Days Special, Summer Fun Fundraising, creativity days etc. Please call 01423 886886 for more information.
