June 2010
MESSAGE FROM DAVID STOUT
Hello, I’m David Stout, the new acting deputy head at Forest
School. Prior to my secondment I was deputy for fifteen years at
The Dales School in Moreton on Swale, Northallerton. It is a school
for pupils with severe learning difficulties age 2-19. I live in
Bedale which is close enough to commute – when the A1 isn’t
jammed with traffic!
I’m enjoying my role here especially since everyone has been
so welcoming. My teaching commitment is mainly in Key Stage 3 and
I have taken on responsibility for Extended Schools activities as
well as other management tasks. I look forward to meeting some of
you at parents evenings or other events.

SWIMMING

Swimming money is now due for the summer term. If you have not yet
paid, please send cash or cheque (made payable to THE FOREST SCHOOL)
as soon as possible. The cost is just £1 per week, which is
terrific value for money!
UNIFORM
Attached is an order form for uniform items. Please note we keep
only a very limited number of items here at school due to space
constraints. If we need to order a particular size it can take over
three weeks, so timely ordering is crucial. We will be placing an
order with the supplier soon, for delivery in July. After that,
we will not be ordering until September. If you wish to place an
order, please complete and return the attached form with payment.
Please note if your child is moving into year 7, he/she will need
a navy blue sweatshirt.
SLIMMING
After the excesses of Christmas, Mr Organ the science teacher decided
to put some of the staff on a diet! The quest was to lose weight
before Easter. We are pleased to report a total weight loss amongst
the 14 participating staff of 79kg. Thank you to all parents who
sponsored us, the money raised will be put into school funds for
trips and activities.
