November 2009
CHILDREN IN NEED
The children took part in Children in Need events at school on
20th November. It was a non-uniform day so we saw all the pupils
wearing their favourite clothes. We had a special assembly presented
by Year 8 with pictures of ‘Children in Need Day’ last
year, and a performance by our resident staff orchestra ‘The
Forest Philharmonic’. At break time the tuck shop sold cakes
and biscuits and in the afternoon we had a disco. It was great fun
and we managed to raise £202.61. Thanks to everyone who helped
and contributed to the cause. If you would still like to make a
donation to Children in Need, please forward money to school by
27 November.
CHRISTMAS FAIR
Our Christmas Fair will be held on 27th November, 9am to 11am.
We are having a raffle, tombola, cake stall, books and toy stall.
If you have any unwanted toys or books please forward them to school,
as well as any other items suitable as raffle prizes. Also if you
would like to contribute to our ever popular cake stall please send
baking in on the morning of the 27th. All parents are welcome to
join us in the festivities!
MORRISONS VOUCHERS
Thanks to you we have successfully collected over 4,000 vouchers.
Mr Organ and Mrs Smith are putting together an order for
gardening equipment, which will be delivered next spring.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Kieran and Andrew from Year 11 who took part
in a cross country event at King James School recently. There were
80 runners and Kieran and Andrew came in at 9th
and 12th place. A fantastic achievement boys –
well done!

‘COMMUNITY MATTERS’ – WAITROSE HARROGATE
The Forest School is very fortunate to have been nominated by Waitrose
Station Parade, Harrogate, as one of 3 charities to receive a donation
during November. If you shop in Waitrose (your purchase can be for
ANY amount) you will be offered a token, which you place in ‘The
Forest School’ collecting box in the store, and we will be
awarded a donation on the number of ‘tokens’ we receive.
If you are able to support this, we would be very grateful.
